What Is Digital Literacy?
Kentucky Digital Literacy Extension helps individuals and communities build the skills needed to effectively use technology in everyday life. Programming focuses on essential digital skills such as using computers and mobile devices, navigating the internet, accessing online services, protecting personal information and communicating in a digital environment. By connecting University of Kentucky research and resources with local needs, Digital Literacy Extension works to reduce barriers to technology access and ensure Kentuckians can confidently participate in an increasingly digital world.
Digital Literacy programs are delivered through county Extension offices, community partners and outreach initiatives that meet people where they are, both in person and online. Extension professionals provide hands on instruction, one on one support and workshops tailored to a wide range of audiences, including youth, adults and older populations. These efforts help individuals access education, employment opportunities, healthcare resources and civic services while promoting safe, responsible and informed use of technology across Kentucky communities.
