What Is Horticulture?
Kentucky Horticulture Extension provides research based education and resources to support the production, management and enjoyment of plants across the Commonwealth. Programming focuses on home gardening, commercial horticulture, landscaping, local food systems and environmental stewardship. Through partnerships with the University of Kentucky and local stakeholders, Horticulture Extension helps individuals and businesses improve plant health, increase productivity and adopt sustainable practices suited to Kentucky’s climate and growing conditions.
Horticulture programs are delivered through county Extension offices, on site demonstrations and hands on workshops led by Extension professionals and trained volunteers. These efforts serve a wide range of audiences, from home gardeners and Master Gardeners to commercial growers and landscape professionals. By offering practical guidance, diagnostic services and continuing education opportunities, Horticulture Extension supports vibrant communities, strengthens local economies and promotes responsible care of Kentucky’s natural resources.
